You may recall that Houston rapper Paul Wall said there would be World Series grills for every Astros player that wants one, after Houston defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers for the teams first ever World Series championship.Well the grill master, Johnny Dang, has already finished up work on pieces for seven players and three more have had molds made.Tyler White, Derek Fisher, Lance McCullers, Mike Fiers, James Hoyt, and Jake Marisnick, each have their very own World Series grill waiting for them at Johnny Dang Co. while Joe Musgrove already picked his up on Thursday. When Paul Wall originally brought the idea to Dang, the grill guru was immediately on board, albeit a little surprised by how many grills he could potentially be making. I asked Paul lsquo; How many players? he said,40. I said, lsquo;what!?! So that means wed make 80 grills, Dang joked. But since Paul is my partner, a big Astros fan and he asked, it was no problem. So he put out a tweet and a couple of players saw it and said they wanted a grill.Dang was part of the movement that most recently popularized grills and established it as a pivotal part of Houstons hip hop culture. You probably remember 2005s hit song, Grillz by Nelly featuring Paul Wall, Ali, and Gipp In a 2014 article on Vice, Lauren Schwartzberg wrote that Dang was selling more than 400 grills a day for at least $500 each during that time Jose Altuve Jersey. But Dang was making grills way before Grillz popularized it in main stream America and even though interest in grills hasnt gone away, the jeweler to the stars wasnt sure how many Astros players would take up Wall on the offer.Grills are really part of Houston culture and we are the ones that started it, Dang said. I have a couple of baseball players that have been my clients for a long timemdash;I was excited but I didnt think that many [Astros] players were going to want to wear a grill. I am happy a lot of players stopped by to get one done. A lot of them have never worn a grill before and they want to try it out. Its just another element, another way to celebrate. worldseriesgrillz .... www.tvjohnny.net A post shared by Johnny Dang (johnnydangandco) on Nov 8, 2017 at 949pm PSTDang has also been working on some other pieces to celebrate the Astros World Series win.
